Baby Shower Gift

This weekend was my friend Miri's baby shower! She's having a boy. I made her a bunch of onesies as a gift. You can see them here, strung up on a clothes line, all the way up the banister! They were a bit hit.

Hand-Made Holiday Stocking

Of course I think that the best gifts are homemade. So when it came time to help my brother-in-law celebrate Christmas, it seemed only natural to make him a stocking. His work schedule kept him in New York this season so he'll spend a day or two with my family doing the interfaith holiday or 'jewish christmas', a la my parents. There's no Jesus in sight, but lots of happy, pudgy Santas. And yes, we all have stockings. I didn't want Dan to feel left out.

Here's a photo of the stocking. I'll get an 'action' shot of it later this week. My friends are encouraging me to sell these hand-made items. If you're interested, leave a comment and I'll get back to you about pricing, availablilty for Christmas 2007.

Have a happy holiday!

Credit where credit is due

I'm not the only creative one in the house. Doug made these awesome "4's" to complete our Halloween costume as Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic. We were a fantastic hit! Nice work Doug!

J Danger wrapped in Pink

The flannel receiving blanket is my new favorite gift to give, though I have a feeling I'll soon be returning to quilting. Here's a photo of my cousin's baby, Jackie "Danger" snuggled up with the blanket I made for her.

More Baby Things...

As more and more of our friends transition into parenthood, I've been forced to come up with more creative and quick solutions to the 'perfect baby present'.

Here is my friend Andrea's daughter Reese, swaddled in a flannel receiving blanket I made and embroidered with her name and birthdate, weight, etc.

Isn't she a muffin!!??

Combine sugar, flour, eggs...

It was our friend Tom's 40th Birthday Fiesta over the weekend. A party for such an awesome dude requires an awesome sugary confection. Here you see my first ever sombrero cake! I have to admit, it was delicious! I could not have done it without the help of my two friends, and master bakers, Julie and Dennis, who came to my aid with recipes and construction tips.

Cozy Bug Comfort

Here's a photo of one of my favorite babies wearing a onesie I embroidered. Cute bug, eh? I think the onesie is cute too!
